La storia del Motogiro

Nato nel 1914, il Motogiro d’Italia è la rievocazione storica del più antico evento di regolarità turistica motociclistica italiana a tappe. Negli anni ’50 diventa leggenda grazie alla FMI; l’avventura si interrompe nel 1957 dopo l’abolizione delle gare su strada. Oggi torna a vivere come rievocazione storica: passione, regole, territorio e amicizia.

Anche nell’era digitale resta indissolubile il legame tra l’uomo e il territorio. Il Motogiro d’Italia è l’occasione per vivere l’Italia attraverso percorsi unici, luoghi senza tempo e strade che raccontano storie.

It was again wonderfully organised and Tuscany showed its amazing landscapes, villages, castillos and churches. Unbelievable the highlight of it all: the arrival at the Piazza dei Miracoli. I thoroughly enjoyed the tour, the friendship among participants and the hospitality of the Italian people who welcomed us everywhere. Thank you all. Apologies for the delay, it’s been a busy couple of weeks since our return from the MotoGiro, but I’ve been busy with trips around the country since my return. I wanted to thank you and your team for what was an excellent MotoGiro, enjoyed by Roger and me, as well as all our team from the uk. We all had a great time! On balance I think widening the appeal and boosting the numbers was a good thing, despite the consequent dilution of the Storica class. It meant we saw many new faces, and more classic machines in greater numbers than I can remember over the five MotoGiros I have experienced. Lastly you asked for feedback on the meals so I’ll give my opinion. I think all were good, and personally I like the surprise of having interesting dishes put in front of me without having to choose. I thought the table service option best, with the resort hotel queues rather tedious. So many thanks again, I hope I’ll see all my Italian friends again soon.

Massimo & Laura, On behalf of the Lucky Bastards, we wanted to thank you for producing another very memorable vintage riding event! You two are a wonderful pair of people who make the world go around for all of us. Even with all the new, modern motos and all the Japanese motos, it was wonderful event. The hotels were great, the served dinners were a pleasant change and the good feelings of all the people from all over the world was exceptional. We liked the double overnights that allowed me to work on my bike and to get a new helmet. You should be very proud of the exceptional efforts of your 50 volunteers. You are both good leaders. Dear Laura, Dear Massimo Just to say thank you for another wonderful memory ! Nigel, Barry and I had a great time on MV Agusta, MiVal and Honda CB160, despite the large number of tourist bikes. The roads you chose were magnificent ! Well done, as always ! I really did love your choice of roads – particularly the 168 hairpin bends (my friend in the sidecar to the Norton Commando counted them!) to the hill village on the last day. Hello Massimo and Laura This is Alan Morrow (No. 180) sending you a quick note to thank you both for organising this year's MotoGiro d'Italia. I had a most incredible experience and enjoyed every single moment of the event. It came with many adventures, such as my Lodola 235 GT breaking down on the second day, setting out again on a 850 Moto Guzzi hire bike, experiencing the most incredible roads and soaking up the exquisite landscapes of Tuscany. I was deeply impressed by the smooth efficiency of the event, from the superb quality of our hotels, to your absolute focus on rider safety. I also made many new friends from around the world and this added much to my overall enjoyment. Once again, my sincere thanks to you both and I look forward to competing in many more MotoGiros. Massimo, My wife Charissa and I cannot thank you enough for allowing us to ride with the MotoGiro. We realize that we are mere Tourists but I hope you realize that since my entire life was competing so no longer compete in anything! Our first day was one of trepidation as we were clearly unsure of how to behave and to fit in and around the racers in a way that would not hold them up. By the end of the first day, the MotoGiro group had given us the necessary guidance for us not to interfere which was a huge relief. What a wonderful group you have. Although the riding was way beyond anything we had ever been involved with, it is the people who made the MotoGiro so remarkable and this starts with you and Laura. Your staff, the FIM, the Carabinieri, the technicians and the health personnel, to a person they were supportive and always extremely helpful. You chose well and we applaud you for this. They too are every bit as important to the entire feeling of the ride as we knew help was always close at hand if ever needed. Thank you for creating such a remarkable environment for everyone to not only challenge themselves with the competition, but to make new friendships along the way. I'm not sure I've ever come in contact with such a remarkable and enjoyable group of people. The memories you have given Charissa and I will be forever embedded in our brains, until our very last breath. So in the end, I really haven't the words to thank you with so I will stop talking now!
